A new-look interactive website www.winchester.gov.uk has been launched by Winchester City Council.
The site, which includes a number of new features, includes, e-Alerts, Online Polls and a new look e-forms system has been designed and implemented by Web-Labs Limited
The new site should allow visitors to find answers to any questions they have about local services," said Cllr George Hollingbery, Deputy Leader and Cabinet portfolio holder for performance and communications.
From advice about local doctors to information on how to make a planning application or sign your child up to a particular school, the answers you're looking for should be there.
Sometimes the answer will be that the City Council is responsible. Sometimes you'll be directed to the correct information on another organisation's website like the County Council or the local hospital.
Wherever you end up, you should know what to do next to get what you want.
Crucially, we need to know if your enquiry isn't answered, so please can I ask people to use the online feedback form to let us know what changes we need to make to get it right for the next user.
Initial feedback confirms that over 76% of all users preferred the new look and functionality of the site.

Winchester City Council located in the scenic county of Hampshire was recently voted by the BBC as 'The Best Place in the UK to Live' .
Winchester has a population of xxx and an annual budget of xxx. The City is renowned for its culture, educational facilities, low unemployment, quality of living and the beauty of the surrounding countryside
To provide a web presence to much of the local community Winchester City Council have chosen Web Labs 'CommunityMaster' a system to enable non technical people to build and maintain their own professional standard web sites. This 'out of the box' Content Management System comes with pre built templates and application functionality this means that non IT staff can simply change the colours and graphics to produce personalise and accessible templates and then choose the software applications they require to complete their web site in minutes. The other benefit is that the Content Management System then allows owners of the web site to easily update and publish new content to their web site without assistance reducing time and maintenance cost.
The first applications for CommunityMaster within Winchester City Council have been for the provision of websites to local business, sports clubs and cultural organisations / schemes. This has also expanded into a separate portal for the Winchester District Strategic Partnership with micro-sites covering each of the key areas of the partnership which is aimed at pooling efforts of various local organisations and agencies to make a difference to public services in the area.
The future applications for CommunityMaster will include Tourism and Parish Councils
CommunityMaster has proven a great return on our original investment as we are able to produce tens or even hundreds of professional web sites at very low cost and as the Content Management System is so easy to use our community organisations can easily maintain their own web site easing the pressures on our limited staff and minimising cost.
